Who, Where and When

Carol Langstaff and Jim Rooney met in the early 60”s as performers at the Club 47 in Cambridge, Mass. We sniffed around each other and then went our separate ways. Jim was unfolding his folk music career, Carol was founding Revels and purchased this home in1967, where she raised her family. Sonya, Carol’s youngest was born here on the land when it was a farm and her father built the barn.

Jim and Carol reconnected in Ireland at the time of her mother’s wake. Slowly Jim drifted up here to be with Carol and Sonya a teen, was still home. When Sonya move to Nashville, into Jim’s old apartment she thrived on the music scene and eventually became a respected production manager working in several cities.

Over the years land has hosted Earth & Arts camps for youngsters and many years presenting Flock Dance Troupe. The land offered a natural amphitheater, come to be called Star Mountain Amphitheater where large multigenerational casts’ performed dance/theater shows about social issues. Carol created the scripts, choose the music, directed and performed, Jim was the Sounds and Grounds man extrodinaire. These 3 love putting on shows.

They come together to choose and present the various acts. People come to share the place, hear wonderful music, dance and visit with one another. We continue to want to give the land a voice.

Star Mountain is beautiful outdoor setting offering creative and thoughtful summer camp weeks and a variety of entertainment including live music, and dance. We are pleased and honored  to have the Seven Stars Arts Center as a 2025 Fiscal Sponsor for these events!
